Tanami Expansion 2

Project Briefing

Oreteq was assigned by Worley for Engineering, Design, Fabrication & Supply of Underground & Surface Conveyors. The Scope of Work was distributed over a total of five conveyors with the scope of supply covering the following;

  • Engineering ,Design & Modelling of five conveyors
  • Conveyor Steelwork & Structural Components
  • Pulleys
  • Idlers
  • Drives & Backstop
  • Scrapers & Ploughs
  • Conveyor Instrumentation

The Tanami expansion project is anchored on the expansive Auron deposit, which was discovered in 2008, and is located stratigraphically beneath the original Callie orebody and the Federation and Liberator discoveries.

Tanami's orebodies are hosted by reactive stratigraphic units where high-grade gold mineralization is found at intersections with structural corridors, Newmont Goldcorp said. The expansion includes construction of a 1,460 meter shaft, additional capacity in the processing plant, and supporting infrastructure to enable profitable recovery of ore at depth to 2,140 meters below surface.

Project Briefing

Oreteq was assigned by Worley for Engineering, Design, Fabrication & Supply of Underground & Surface Conveyors. The Scope of Work was distributed over a total of five conveyors with the scope of supply covering the following;

The 3.3Mtpa plant is based on conventional carbon-in-pulp technology which is an efficient and low cost operation. It comprises a gyratory crusher, a ball and SAG mill grinding circuit, gravity recovery and cyanide leaching. Gold is extracted from slurry in the leaching circuit onto activated carbon before pumping the carbon to an elution column to wash gold into solution. The gold-bearing solution is then passed through a series of electro-winning cells that deposit the gold onto stainless steel cathodes. The cathodes are rinsed to yield a gold sludge that is dried then smelted into gold doré bullion bars. The bullion is sent to the Perth Mint for refining into gold bars.

Ravensthorpe Nickel Project

Project Briefing

Under FQM's Supply & Maintenance Contract, Oreteq was assigned for the Supply, fabrication & surface treatment of Discharge, feed Chute & Underpan to service the LIM/SAP Beneficiation Dewatering Area. Complete Engineering, fabrication, surface treatment & transport of the Chutes were completed within 5 weeks from receipt of order. Ravensthorpe comprises three separate deposits of low-grade nickel-in-laterite.

Operations involve mining in three open pits, and ore processing in a beneficiation plant – a simple scrubbing and screening process which upgrades the nickel laterite ore. A combination of pressure acid leach and atmospheric leach utilizes all ore types, and precipitation and filtration recover a mixed hydroxide (MHO) precipitate product, containing approximately 40 per cent nickel and 1.4 per cent cobalt, suitable feedstock for battery production. Sulphuric acid for the leaching process is produced on site in a double absorption acid plant. Waste heat from the acid plant is recovered and used to generate all of the site's electrical power as well as provide heat for the leaching process. Ravensthorpe uses seawater piped from the Southern Ocean and pumped via a 46km pipeline. Desalination on site provides fresh water for steam production and brine for use in the beneficiation circuit.

Greenbushes Tailings Retreatment Project

Project Briefing

Oreteq was engaged by Mondium on Greenbushes Tailings Retreatment Project for the Supply & Fabrication - Settling Cone & O/F Tanks. The scope of supply also included surface protection & design/fabrication of transport frames for the supplied tanks.

The Greenbushes mining operations has three processing plants, one producing technical grade lithium concentrates and two producing chemical grade lithium concentrate. Ore containing Li2O is fed into the processing plants which upgrade the lithium mineral, using gravity, heavy media, flotation and magnetic processes, into a range of lithium concentrates for bulk and bagged shipments. Various operating modes are used in the processing plants to produce a variety of different lithium concentrates to meet specific customer requirements. Our products and processes have the international BVQI (Quality) Certification. Construction of a second chemical grade lithium plant (CGP2) was completed and commissioned in 2019.

Munster Kiln 6 – Shell Sand Diversion to Stage 3

Project Briefing

Oreteq was assigned by Cockburn Cement on Engineering, Design, Detailing and fabrication of mechanical equipments along with a conveyor & associated substructures to enable the Kiln 6 Shell-sand feed to discharge at both Stage 2 (Level 7) and stage 3 (level 6) cyclones at the Cockburn Cement Munster Site, WA.

The proposed process change is to enable a 0-100% modulating diversion between the existing feedbox and the new feed-box, such that the sand may be injected into the process at a lower level and higher temperature. This is undertaken with the expectation that the higher temperature at the feed-point will achieve better thermal oxidation of the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and resultant odour reduction.
